Description
Real estate developers begin marketing the “Wurlitzer Park Village” as a safe, family-friendly escape from the aging and industrialized portions of the city in 1957. The new neighborhood was planned complete with sites for schools, churches and shopping, a swimming pool, and a community center. Over 300 families answered the call in the first year. It is named after nearby organ and jukebox makers, the Wurlitzer Manufacturing Company.
