Johnstown tops Buffalo

JOHNSTOWN (AP) — Rookie center Bruce Boudreau and veteran left wing John Gofton each scored two goals yesterday as the Johnstown Jets defeated the Buffalo Norsemen 6-4 in a North American Hockey League playoff game.

The victory evened the best-of-five, Western Division semifinal series at one game apiece. Johnstown, the defending Lockhart Cup Champions, finished atop the division in the regular season while Buffalo finished fourth, 36 points back.

The Jets outshot the Norsemen 46-30 with Dave Birch and Hank Taylor contributing single goals. Buffalo’s scores came from Dave Given, Charlie LaBelle, Larry Gould and Greg Neeld.
